Hello, kaiju lovers!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Due to contractual obligations, Nate covers a \u201c13th<\/sup>\u201d Gamera movie as part of the \u201cYear of Gamera\u201d: Gammera the Invincible <\/em>(he’s a loony). This heavily-edited Americanized version of Gamera the Giant Monster<\/em> was given the Godzilla, King of the Monsters! <\/em>1956 treatment\u2014but it’s far less interesting as a movie and as a piece of kaiju film history. Nate details the key differences\u2014one being the de-emphasis of Psycho Kenny, er, Toshio-san\u2014and explains the rather mundane reasons for why the movie was drastically changed. Also, he gives the Board-appointed \u201cking of the monsters\u201d a new nickname: \u201cGamera-Double-M.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
