Time to share my notes on one of the most Americana monster movies ever made: <em>The Blob <\/em>(1958). Something I forgot to mention during the <a href=\"https:\/\/monsterislandfilmvault.com\/index.php\/2022\/06\/06\/episode-62-eric-anderson-vs-the-blob-1958\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">episode 62 broadcast<\/a> was that I\u2019ve been a huge fan of Steve McQueen since I was a kid. Him and James Dean and, of course, Nick Adams (my \u201cspirit animal\u201d). Those should come as no surprise to anyone. Hell, I once took a martial arts lesson as a youth in the 1970s from Mr. McQueen, who was trained by Bruce Lee. So, you could say I vicariously learned from the best.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Anyway, let\u2019s get into my notes:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>\u201cKaiju doo-doo\u201d? Let\u2019s not insult the Blob like that! Besides, I\u2019ve talked with Ricky the kaiju zookeeper, and he says kaiju crap is different from monster to monster.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I let Nate have it every day. It\u2019s part of my job description as his \u201cintrepid producer\u201d and his friend.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I checked the filming locations for the film, which, according to <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Blob#Production\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wikipedia<\/a><\/em>, were \u201caround Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, principal photography took place at Valley Forge Studios. Several scenes were filmed in the towns of Chester Springs, Downingtown, Phoenixville, and Royersford, including the basement of a local restaurant which is today named Downingtown Diner.\u201d<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I hereby challenge Nate to <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Unmatched_(board_game)\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Unmatched<\/a>! Now I just need to decide who is my main\u2026.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/phoenixvillechamber.org\/news-events\/events\/2022-blobfest-the-uninvited\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blobfest was held this year.<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The game you were thinking of, Nate, was <em><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/De_Blob\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">De Blob<\/a><\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It\u2019s \u201cOne-Eyed, One-Horned, Flying Purple People Eater,\u201d Eric. You got the order wrong.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I taught Eric everything he knows about fact-checking radio hosts. He\u2019s a good padawan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>My ego has recovered from the fact-checking. My storied life has made me resilient in mind and body.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The timeline for the sequels and remakes is <a href=\"https:\/\/monsterislandfilmvault.com\/index.php\/2022\/06\/30\/bonus-episode-12-beware-the-blob-ft-travis-alexander\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">1972 <\/a>and <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Blob_(film_series)#Films\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">1988<\/a>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I found <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=4_pnAAzaaXg\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Blobermouth<\/a> on YouTube. We should have Eric on for a follow-up.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Whatever, Blobermouth (aka Nate\u2014if that is your real name! Are you an alien? That\u2019d explain some things).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Blob will scare the hell out of you\u2014at least according to the church-folk who made it. I confirmed this with Rev. Mifune.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cFrog and Toad\u201d thing, huh? Haha!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>SpaceGodzilla scat? That\u2019s a theory, all right. I doubt there are any scientists who would agree with it\u2026except maybe Dr. Dourif.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If I was Cobra Commander, I\u2019d be ruling the world by now. I\u2019ve read the \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/minievil.eviloverlord.com\/lists\/overlord.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Evil Overlord List<\/a>.\u201d Be glad I have refrained from universal conquest.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cPresetellar,\u201d Nate? You meant, \u201cprestellar.\u201d As in, \u201cbefore stars.\u201d This NASA man knows this!
