Gamera Saves Christmas | A Belated MIFV Holiday Special

Published January 6, 2026

Susan Murphy is dragged by her anthropologist parents to the Arctic so they can study the Eskimo tribe who introduced the world to Gamera. Susan is angry she will miss her last two years of high school while her younger twin siblings, Shawn and Sharon, love that they live closer to the North Pole and Santa Claus. But Susan won’t have any of this “baby stuff” and berates the twins, who run away. Susan is forced by her father to search for them, and she wrecks her snowmobile in a blizzard. When she awakes, she finds herself in the North Pole, which has the twins, Elves, a talking polar bear, and, yes, Santa Claus. If that wasn’t enough, she and her siblings get caught up with an invasion by Santa’s evil brother, Krampus, who commands an army of Goblins and a kaiju reindeer. Gamera intervenes, but he’s left-for-dead by the monstrous reindeer. Now, Susan and her new friends race against time to revive the Friend to All Children with Santa’s magic Wreath crown. But is the teenage girl’s faith strong enough to save the mighty turtle?

Also features sound effects by My Soothing White Noise.

The Kaiju Krypt Presents: ‘Green Thoughts’ by John Collier | Read by Gary Steward

Published October 31, 2025

Happy Halloween, Monster Children! Your host, Vinnie Kami, returns to introduce another classic monster tale–but not his disgruntled butler, Kappa Joe! No, Joe gave himself the night off and sent his carnivorous Gen Z slang-speaking plant, “Violet,” to fill in for him. It’s apropos, because this episode’s story is “Green Thoughts” by John Collier, which inspired 1960’s The Little Shop of Horrors, which led to an off-Broadway musical in the early 1980s, and finally to a 1986 film adaptation of the musical directed by Frank Oz and starring Rick Moranis. The reader is the Monster Island Legal Action Team’s very own Gary Steward, who bears a striking resemblance to Seymour from the musical. But this is assuming Mr. Kami can decipher what “Vi” is saying without an ancient tome to translate.

Episode 73 – ‘Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: The Movie’ | Ft. The Cel Cast

Published December 13, 2022

(This episode was largely recorded and written before the tragic news of Jason David Frank’s death).

Hello, Kaiju Lovers! In what you could call the perfect crossover between their podcasts, MIFV MAX members Drew and Jacob of The Cel Cast sponsor a discussion of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers: The Movie. It has animated kaiju in it—they’re just bad CGI robots. But the real star of this film, like other pop culture blockbusters in 1995, was the villain Ivan Ooze (played by Paul Freeman), who steals every scene and eats all the scenery. If you’ve heard Nate discuss this on one of his other podcasts, The Power Trip, this will be an expansion on what he said there, particularly on the subject of the hero’s journey. Too bad for Nate and his co-hosts, their discussion is interrupted by a certain snarky bonehead.

The night before the broadcast, Nate journals about getting voicemails from Karone—an actual Power Ranger—and Raymund—who keeps claiming he was a Ranger. After the broadcast, Nate goes to a special “thank you for your service” meet-and-greet being held in honor of the recently retired Tommy Oliver. But an old foe of Tommy’s crashes the party.

This episode is dedicated in loving memory to Jason David Frank.

The prologue and epilogue, “Return of the Green Rangers,” was written by Nathan Marchand with Michael Hamilton. “Rito Calls” written by Nathan Marchand.

Guest Cast

  • Celeste Mora as Karone
  • Damon Noyes as Raymund Martin and Gary Steward
  • Joey Sourlis as Tommy Oliver
  • Shane Cochran as Ivan Ooze
  • Daniel DiManna as Ninjor

Additional music:

  • “Go Go Power Rangers” by The Power Rangers Orchestra
  • “Chant My Name!” by Masaaki Endo
  • “Ivan Ooze” by Graeme Revell
  • “Go Green Ranger Go (Instrumental Redux)” by Ron Wasserman
  • “Susume! Gorenger (Opening Theme) Cover 秘密戦隊ゴレンジャー”by It Takes 2 to Toku

Sound effects sourced from Freesound.org, including those by InspectorJ.
