Jimmy From NASA breaks out of Uber-Moguera’s last escape pod, which floats in the Pacific near Monster Island. He is rescued by Kaguya on the HEAT Seeker. She tells Jimmy his mecha crashed on the Beta Site, and he demands to be taken there—to find Nate.

Episode 103 Epilogue: “In the Nose of Madness”

Nate follows his suddenly oppressed nose to Uber-Moguera’s back room and discovers he has a stowaway–Dr. Dante Dourif! The mad scientist needed a place to stay while he was at a “xeno-botany” conference in London. But before Nate can chew him out too much, Konga, who’s kaiju-sized again, is taking his inferiority complex out on Big Ben (unlike in 1961), but even Jet Jaguar’s heroics can’t halt the big ape’s raging rampage. Then Dr. Dourif says he has an idea on how to stop Konga….

The infamous Rito Revolto (or Rito Bandora, depending on who you talk to) and his cohort, some dude named Wade, go over the latest news on Monster Island. All the while, they drive each other to the point of insanity before letting Nate get back on the air. What else is new?

NOTE: Canonically, this takes place after season four and right at the beginning of season five. That will make more sense when season five starts.

In this little epilogue to episode 100, Michael Hamilton, a frequent guest host on MIFV and former co-host of Nate’s on The Power Trip, takes a break from the reception for Jimmy and Kaguya’s wedding by going to Nessie’s Brasserie—and meets a depressed William H. George III! The two of them have a strange heart-to-heart until Nate comes in. Comedic drama ensues.

Episode 96: ‘The Lake’ (2022) vs. Jacob Lyngle

Published August 12, 2024

Hello, Kaiju Lovers! With Korea finally behind them—much to Nate’s relief—he and Jimmy migrate to Thailand. There they are joined by the founder and editor of Kaiju United, your premiere kaiju website, to discuss the ambitious “thaiju” (ba-dum-tsh!) film, The Lake (2022). Jacob had the privilege of interviewing its director, Lee Thongkham, for KU, which is frequently referenced in this episode since there is shockingly little info online for this film. Not even the usual kaiju wiki pages have anything! Regardless, it’s an ambitious little movie, and compared to some of Thailand’s other giant monster fare, it’s practically a masterpiece. (Looking at you, Garuda!) Thongkham said his film was inspired by local legends of a serpent god, which inspired Nate to research the naga as this episode’s Toku Topic.

Jimmy’s Notes on Episode 82: Daniel DiManna vs. ‘Super Inframan’

Published January 17, 2024

Nate hasn’t had the best time with our “new normal,” but I love it! Yeah, I’m flying my junky mecha, Uber-Moguera, to recapture escaped kaiju…and my new microphone might actually be worse than my original…but I’m doing it all with my new “Planet X girlfriend” (ba-dum-tsh!), Kaguya, so I can’t complain. I just wish Nate wouldn’t. Ugh!

So, let’s dive into my first blog of season 4 and The Monster Island World Tour! It’s over episode 82 (Super Inframan, featuring Daniel DiManna).

  • It’s about time my dulcet tones were heard on the show! The Kaiju Lovers will, well, love it! (Except they didn’t. That’s the last time I buy a microphone from a Chinese eBay seller! I’m going to march into Hong Kong right now and find him and give him a one-star Yelp review!)
  • I regret fighting Not-Goldar. Mechani-Kong 2 is crowning achievement. (Don’t say that to my NASA friends, who still love the Gohten).
  • It’s better than “Pollydanna,” Mr. DiManna. That was Nate’s first choice.
  • My mic still doesn’t work?! DAMNIT! I should’ve checked where this was coming from on eBay. Freaking China! Gah! I should’ve gone with Sweetwater, like Nate said. (This was written live).
  • I was an Infra-Man once. I’d tell you which country…but then I’d have to kill you.
  • You said, “boon,” when you meant, “boom,” Danny. Those are very different words.
  • I made him a new Infra-Cycle. I still don’t think he’s used it, though….
  • What do you mean by “as straight,” Danny? That’s a loaded word.
  • “It’s my show, dangit!” Nate is power mad!
  • “Witch-Eye” candy?! (Ba-dum-tsh!) Go to horny jail!
  • “Dagger of the Mind”? Nice choice!
  • I’m well-acquainted with Xilien UFO’s…because girlfriend.
  • I have the best Mysterians fandom! It’s a giant robot!
  • What? I had a question about the…”good doctor”…how was I to know it would summon him?!
  • You meant “Chinese characters,” Nate, not Japanese. Oops. He’s been in Japan for too long.
  • I’ve seen things like Gehara, too. I don’t want to talk about them.
  • I visited the Infra-verse once. ‘Tis a silly place.
  • Try counting the explosions in a Michael Bay film, Danny. You’ll give up after ten minutes. Trust me, I tried.
  • The “Yes, quites” give me flashbacks.
  • You know how sensitive I am about death jokes, Marchand! “Kinda died.” I kinda died!
  • Did I go to that “The Dragon Lives Again” afterlife when I died…I don’t want to talk about it.
  • The Dragon Lives Again sounds perfect for movie night! With what you’ve made me and the rest of the gang watch, come on!
  • Ever heard of polygamy?
  • I’ll get started on the Tofu Fury Jaeger. The blueprints will be ready in a few months.
  • “Kung Food” is going to be a new restaurant on the Island, isn’t it? I swear, the Island is evidence that manifestation works. Or maybe it’s just the Board.
