BONUS – All Podcasts Attack Special: Days of the Dead: All Monsters Attack Convention

Published September 12, 2022

Welcome, kaiju lovers, heroes of the internet, and listeners with attitude! This past weekend, Nathan and his Power Trip co-host, Michael Hamilton, met each other in real life for the first time (and the world somehow didn’t explode). They attended a small upstart “spin-off” convention called Days of the Dead: All Monsters Attack, which was held in Indianapolis. This bonus episode is a late-night postmortem chat they had afterward, and it’s being shared on the feeds for Monster Island Film Vault, Henshin Men, and The Power Trip because the guest line-up was relevant to all three shows! Hear about them meeting Gamera’s best girl, Ayako Fujitani, Bin Furuya, the original Ultraman suit actor, and the OG Red Power Ranger himself, Austin St. John.

Learn more about the con on its website.

Episode 61: Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers – ‘Green with Evil’ | Ft. Michael Hamilton

Published April 15, 2022

Hello, kaiju lovers! In our first Patreon-sponsored episode of season three, Nate is joined by his co-host from The Power Trip podcast and frequent guest, Michael Hamilton, for some TV talk. (Although, first they have to resolve longstanding issues from the…“Yeti incident”). In this case, the epic five-part miniseries from Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers, “Green with Evil.” This introduced toku-loving kids to Tommy Oliver (Jason David Frank), the femme fatale Scorpina, and the iconic Dragonzord. But in true MIFV fashion, Nate and Michael have a deeper-than-you-would-expect thematic discussion about this miniseries and how it shows the corruptive nature of evil—and it includes quotations from J.R.R. Tolkien and St. Augustine! Yes, that’s the kind of podcast we are. Strap in, folks! It’s morphin’ time!

Beforehand, Nate receives some voicemails from both Karone and Raymund, with the former giving an update on how she’s coping with life after freeing herself from the Board’s influence, and the latter making excuses for not finding his Gorenger costume. Also, a drunk WHG3 calls into the show to speak with Michael.

This episode’s prologue, “Letters from Rangers,” was written by Nathan Marchand.

Guest stars:

  • Celeste Mora as Karone
  • Damon Noyes as Raymund Martin
  • Michael Hamilton as William H. George III

Additional music:

  • “Go, Go, Power Rangers” by Niall Stenson
  • “Chant My Name!” by Masaaki Endo

Sound effects sourced from Freesound.org, including those by InspectorJ.

Bonus Episode 6: Power Rangers In Space – Countdown to Destruction, Part 2′ (feat. Chris Cooke)

Published December 30, 2020

Hello, kaiju (and toku) lovers!

Nathan has been mandated by the Board to archive episodes of Power Rangers in the film vault. Their executive assistant, Ms. Perkins, was particularly insistent on him starting with Power Rangers In Space, for some reason. So, as a special bonus episode to close out 2020 and season one, Nathan and Chris Cooke (host of “One Cross Radio”) recorded a pair of watch-along episodes for that series’ two-part finale, “Countdown to Destruction.” While Chris is a “Power Fan,” Nathan went into this two-parter relatively cold, so you’ll hear his honest reactions live. Chris and Nathan also mention fun factoids about this epic episode as well as the series itself and the Power Rangers franchise (including a possible relative of Nate’s who served as a screenwriter and story editor on it!) MIFV’s intrepid producer, Jimmy From NASA, pipes in a few times and accuses Nathan of having a crush on the show’s big bad, Astronema, which earns him some potent sass. Stay tuned after the credits to hear the return of MIFV’s mascots—and the introduction of another one!

To hear part one of this watch-along, check out the latest episode of One Cross Radio.

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, kaiju lovers!
