Episode 113: ‘Dragonslayer’ (1981) | Ft. Damon Noyes | Patreon

Published July 22, 2026

Hello, Kaiju Lovers! In a shockingly (but not shockingly) looooooong episode sponsored by Damon Noyes, Nate and his executive producer make the definitive podcast episode on a kaiju-adjacent film that marks the first Disney project covered on MIFV: Dragonslayer (1981). This co-production between the Mouse and Paramount has the best-named dragon ever–Vermithrax Pejorative–that had a massive impact on fantasy storytelling despite the movie flopping at the box office. The likes of Guillermo del Toro and George R.R. Martin count it as one of the greatest fantasy films of all time. Given that the filmmakers were inspired by Lord of the Rings by J.R.R. Tolkien and the legend of “St. George and the Dragon,” it’s no surprise. Nate and Damon go so deep in their discussion, this episode may have to be transcribed into a book. Strap in!

“Jimmy’s Notes” COMING SOON!

Additional Music:

  • “A Slight Skirmish” by Alex North

MIFV Season 5 Prelude: “I Should Be Dead” | Storyline Season Premiere

Published February 11, 2026

Nate finds himself floating in oblivion. Terror’s teeth tear into his very soul. A bright silhouette reaches for him, and he takes his hand—and wakes up surrounded by Uber-Moguera’s burning wreckage, unscathed. His rescuer, Jet Jaguar, takes him to the Island’s infirmary. Aside from piercing headaches, he has a clean bill of health. But something haunts him. Something that saved him…something that shares his body…something…or someone?

Gamera Saves Christmas | A Belated MIFV Holiday Special

Published January 6, 2026

Susan Murphy is dragged by her anthropologist parents to the Arctic so they can study the Eskimo tribe who introduced the world to Gamera. Susan is angry she will miss her last two years of high school while her younger twin siblings, Shawn and Sharon, love that they live closer to the North Pole and Santa Claus. But Susan won’t have any of this “baby stuff” and berates the twins, who run away. Susan is forced by her father to search for them, and she wrecks her snowmobile in a blizzard. When she awakes, she finds herself in the North Pole, which has the twins, Elves, a talking polar bear, and, yes, Santa Claus. If that wasn’t enough, she and her siblings get caught up with an invasion by Santa’s evil brother, Krampus, who commands an army of Goblins and a kaiju reindeer. Gamera intervenes, but he’s left-for-dead by the monstrous reindeer. Now, Susan and her new friends race against time to revive the Friend to All Children with Santa’s magic Wreath crown. But is the teenage girl’s faith strong enough to save the mighty turtle?

Also features sound effects by My Soothing White Noise.

The Kaiju Krypt Presents: ‘Green Thoughts’ by John Collier | Read by Gary Steward

Published October 31, 2025

Happy Halloween, Monster Children! Your host, Vinnie Kami, returns to introduce another classic monster tale–but not his disgruntled butler, Kappa Joe! No, Joe gave himself the night off and sent his carnivorous Gen Z slang-speaking plant, “Violet,” to fill in for him. It’s apropos, because this episode’s story is “Green Thoughts” by John Collier, which inspired 1960’s The Little Shop of Horrors, which led to an off-Broadway musical in the early 1980s, and finally to a 1986 film adaptation of the musical directed by Frank Oz and starring Rick Moranis. The reader is the Monster Island Legal Action Team’s very own Gary Steward, who bears a striking resemblance to Seymour from the musical. But this is assuming Mr. Kami can decipher what “Vi” is saying without an ancient tome to translate.

MIFV MAX #40 (Abridged): ‘Reptisaurus’ (2009) | Ft. Damon Noyes

Published July 16, 2025

Hello, Kaiju Lovers! If you’re joining us just after G-Fest, welcome! In this abridged episode of our Patreon-exclusive podcast, you’ll hear Nathan and executive producer/MIFV MAX “prime” member Damon Noyes discuss (or rather, riff) a “pseudo-remake” (and by that, we mean “second cousin twice removed”) of Reptilicus with the 2009 SyFy movie Reptisaurus. It claims to be based on the Charlton comic, which was a Reptilicus comic for two issues, but the $15 CGI creature looks nothing like it. And there’s no alien named Bob. What about Bob?! Instead, we get a cadre of 35-year-old college students, two bumbling soldiers, and Buck Rogers in his living room, er, office. It may look like an Asylum movie and quack like an Asylum movie, but it isn’t an Asylum movie, no matter what Grok may tell you. (Yes, Nathan experimented with X’s AI assistant to research this and had to fact-check the robot). Strap in, Kaiju Lovers!

Join MIFV MAX on Patreon to hear the uncut version and read Nathan’s research notes:

Episode 102 Epilogue: “Flight of the Reptilicus”

Published April 17, 2025

With Regina and Reggie, the Reptilicus pair, flying and/or slithering through Tivoli Gardens, Nate and Damon try and fail to concoct a plan to halt their “romantic” rampage and recapture the serpentine monsters. Then the Markalite Lounge’s owner, the singer Kevin Gomora, calls Nate to say he needs to take refuge in Uber-Moguera, because Regina is chasing him. This gives Damon a crazy idea that just might the kaiju couple back to the Island.
