Like with the 1933 film, this is Nick\u2019s first time seeing this\n1967 Toho classic, which was the second (and sadly last) of Toho\u2019s Kong films,\nas it was made in the last year they held the rights to the Eighth Wonder. This\nis a first for the show as it\u2019s the first <em>tokusatsu<\/em>\nfilm directed by the great Ishiro Honda covered on the podcast. It\u2019s a crazy\nnexus of ideas borrowed from other productions and some that seemed to\nanticipate others. For one thing, its villain, Dr. Who, is both a derivation <em>and<\/em> a precursor to the famous British TV\nseries!
