I know there are rumors going around that we broke up or were on the rocks. We\u2019ve talked things over. It took a while to help her understand some things about how human \u201ccultural frameworks,\u201d as she calls them, work, but she seems to get it now&#8230;sorta. Am I still in the doghouse? Yeah. I\u2019m giving her a bit of space. But I have to say, to paraphrase Jack Driscoll, \u201cI think I\u2026\u201d Ahem! Anyway, let\u2019s get into my notes on <a href=\"https:\/\/monsterislandfilmvault.com\/?p=2191\">Episode 85 (<em>Godzilla: The Series<\/em> \u2013 \u201cMonster Wars\u201d)<\/a>, which featured the return of the \u201ccartoon guys,\u201d Drew Dodgen and Jacob Heron, from The Cel Cast.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The air conditioning will get fixed\u2026eventually. This walking cobbled-together junk pile has far more pressing issues to fix\u2026like the CD player.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As cute as D33-D117 (Deedlit?) is for an AI\u2026Kaguya would kill me! She almost did after we recaptured Utam Goliathon!<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>MIFV\u2019s previous <em>Godzilla: The Series<\/em> coverage was <a href=\"http:\/\/monsterislandfilmvault.com\/index.php\/2021\/07\/28\/episode-45-godzilla-the-series-new-family-deadloch-feat-eli-harris\/\">Episode 45<\/a> (\u201cNew Family\u201d and \u201cDeadloch\u201d) and <a href=\"http:\/\/monsterislandfilmvault.com\/index.php\/2022\/04\/15\/bonus-episode-11-godzilla-the-series-the-cameron-winter-trilogy-ft-the-cel-cast\/\">Bonus Episode 11<\/a> (\u201cThe Cameron Winter Trilogy\u201d).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I think Drew was referring to Winter\u2019s episodes of the show being before \u201cMonster Wars.\u201d He\u2019s correct\u2026about one. Winter\u2019s first episode was episode five while \u201cMonster Wars\u201d was episodes 15-17.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Martians didn\u2019t know Earth\u2019s bacteria was fatal to them\u2026or was it a bio-weapon? <a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_League_of_Extraordinary_Gentlemen,_Volume_II\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">That\u2019s what Alan Moore would want you to believe<\/a>. I know how much you love that, Nate. \ud83d\ude1b<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These aliens never win beauty pageants and hate being compared to the Harkonnens. Trust me, I\u2019ve run into a few of them.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I asked the scientists if Zilla Jr. purrs. They looked at me like I was a weirdo. I am, but still, that was rude.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/turtlepedia.fandom.com\/wiki\/Wingnut\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Wingnut<\/a>?! #DeepCut<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cDraczilla\u201d That\u2019s a terrifying concept. I\u2019ll tell the Board to ban anyone from Transylvania from visiting the Island.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I fought Frussians once. I don\u2019t want to talk about it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Lies! <a href=\"https:\/\/monsterislandfilmvault.com\/index.php\/2024\/02\/25\/episode-84-epilogue-davida-and-goliathon\/\">You\u2019ve kink-shamed me!<\/a><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cPlay it again, Sam,\u201d is a misquoted line, as Nate explained. While it\u2019s associated with Humphrey Bogart, something like it, \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.phrases.org.uk\/meanings\/284700.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Play it, Sam<\/a>,\u201d was actually said by Ingrid Bergman.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Inspirational temporal displacement? That\u2019s an oxymoron if I ever heard one. And yet another reason I hate time travel.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/wikizilla.org\/wiki\/Paris\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Paris has been attacked by kaiju<\/a>, but only in Godzilla stories. Specifically, <em>Destroy All Monsters<\/em>, this three-parter, <em>Godzilla: Final Wars<\/em>, <em>Godzilla Unleashed: Final Smash<\/em>, and <em>Godzilla: Rulers of Earth<\/em>. (Fun fact: <a href=\"https:\/\/otakuusamagazine.com\/frances-national-library-has-147-5-foot-kaiju-no-8-mural\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">there\u2019s a Kaiju No. 8 mural in Paris<\/a>).<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Admittedly, I didn\u2019t have much time to search for kaiju attacks on Washington, D.C. (and my internet searches kept bringing up very different sorts of attacks), but much to Nate\u2019s chagrin, the one I did find is an Asylum movie: <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Ape vs. Monster - Official Trailer\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/55SXvPwmogY?feature=oembed\" frameborder=\"0\" allow=\"accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share\" referrerpolicy=\"strict-origin-when-cross-origin\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe>\n<\/div><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>I might have something to do with the shield D33-D117 found around D.C.\u2026I don\u2019t want to talk about it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You\u2019d be surprised how many trailer park aliens there are in the galaxy. Poverty is universal.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>We don\u2019t talk about mushrooms on MIFV. For very good reasons.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Popcorn ball, Nate, not cornball.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Occam\u2019s razor &gt; technobabble. So, I\u2019m with Monique in this case.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It\u2019s always too soon for <em>Firefly<\/em>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>I think I met Queen Bleep once. I don\u2019t want to talk about it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>\u201cNilla\u201d? As funny as that is, Dr. Tatopoulos won\u2019t approve that name.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The years for crab movies are correct, Nate.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It\u2019s not often I\u2019m left speechless about crabs.
