Henshin Power V3: Where three friends have three minutes to talk about tokusatsu! Nathan (aka “The TsuBro”) has finished both Henshin Men and The Power Trip, but his friends Chris (aka “Sentai Guy”) and Jake (aka “The Metal Don”) won’t let him stop discussing henshin heroes just yet! A new tokusatsu journey begins July 10, 2024 (Ultraman Day)!
In this excerpt from a Patreon-exclusive livestream, Nathan interviews James Santana, a comic nerd and tokusatsu fan who combined his passions by starting his own comic book label, TokUSA Studios. His goal is to bridge the gap between tokusatsu/manga fans and comic readers by offering them books inspired by the likes of Super Sentai and Ultraman, among others. He’s currently spearheading a Kickstarter for The World of Nebulon, a preview book showcasing several of the characters and titles in the works at the studio.

Hello, Kaiju Lovers! In MIFV’s fourth season premiere, Nate is joined by Daniel DiManna (Godzilla Novelization Project) to discuss competently-made insanity: Super Inframan. Yes, it barely qualifies as “kaiju,” but Nate needed an excuse to talk about it (again). To call it a hyper-caffeinated fusion of Shaw Bros. trademark martial cinema and Japanese henshin heroes would be an understatement. Believe it or not, this bonkers movie has connections to both Kamen Rider and Mystery Science Theater 3000! Nate and Danny also discuss “Bruceploitation” and the Muppets in regards to this movie. The Toku Topic is, naturally, kung-fu cinema.

It’s not often Nate has actors from kaiju films on the show, let alone two of his buddies! Yes, believe it or not, his friends Daniel DiManna (Godzilla Novelization Project) and Elijah Thomas (Kaiju Conversation) both “starred” and “co-directed” the independent schlock-fest ZillaFoot from SRS Cinema. In this episode, which is more of an interview than a review/discussion, Daniel and Elijah talk about how they got involved with this movie and what they did in it. They also try to explain its convoluted history and divulge some juicy insider info! It’s the definitive podcast episode on ZillaFoot! (Worst bragging rights ever…?)

In this JAFAX panel, you’ll take a crash course in the Ultraman series with Nathan Marchand! This required a bit of tweaking because it angered the automated YouTube overlords that Nathan dared show the trailer for Ultraman Blazar, which is why it cuts off at the end. You can hear a similar version of this presentation by listening to episode 48 of Henshin Men, which features Daniel DiManna, and in a recent issue of Kaiju Ramen Magazine.

Welcome, kaiju lovers, heroes of the internet, and listeners with attitude! This past weekend, Nathan and his Power Trip co-host, Michael Hamilton, met each other in real life for the first time (and the world somehow didn’t explode). They attended a small upstart “spin-off” convention called Days of the Dead: All Monsters Attack, which was held in Indianapolis. This bonus episode is a late-night postmortem chat they had afterward, and it’s being shared on the feeds for Monster Island Film Vault, Henshin Men, and The Power Trip because the guest line-up was relevant to all three shows! Hear about them meeting Gamera’s best girl, Ayako Fujitani, Bin Furuya, the original Ultraman suit actor, and the OG Red Power Ranger himself, Austin St. John.
Hello, kaiju lovers! Join me this Saturday (November 6) for a special charity livestream for Extra Life, an organization that raises money for children’s hospitals through marathon gaming sessions. I’ll be playing Power Rangers: Battle for The Grid! Click the links below for more information and to contribute to my donation goal! Thanks!
I (Nathan) am the “kaiju guy” now, but I used to be the “superhero guy.” Now thanks to Travis from Kaiju Weekly, I’ve combined both! This is a promo for our new spinoff podcast, The Henshin Men, a tokusatsu superhero appreciation podcast dedicated to high-flying and high-kicking adventures of Japan’s transforming, kaiju-fighting heroes!
